SUCCESSFUL DANCE TEACHERS NEED A SOUND
BACKGROUND!
This statement is true in more ways than
one. No matter how much the teacher knows about the
subject matter; no matter how polished are the teaching
techniques; no matter how effective the demonstrations,
two facts still remain. Dancers dance to music, and the
better they can hear the music the more they enjoy the
dance. Dancers get instruction by the spoken word as well
as by demonstration, and the better they can hear the
more effective it is.
Whether the dance form is clogging, square, round, tap,
jazz, aerobics, country western, ballroom, etc. - a basic
knowledge of sound is very important part of the dance
teacher's professional background.
The following information is covered:

in microphones, speakers, amplifiers, specialized
equipment which is available, etc.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR SOUND EQUIPMENT: Preventive
maintenance, cleaning, storage and hauling, etc.
SOUND FOR LARGE FESTIVALS: In-house sound systems, big

MULTIPLE SPEAKER HOOKUP: How to determine the correct
speaker hookup based on the impedance of the speakers
(measured in OHMS) and how many are being connected to
the amplifier.
MULTIPLE SPEAKER HOOKUP DIAGRAMS: If nothing else makes
sense - then looking at a picture (diagram for the
technical types) should help.
